Developing future leaders
Empowering the Next Generation of Korean American Leaders
Who We Are
KAYA is committed to inspiring and equipping the next generation of Korean American leaders.
KAYA (Korean American Youth Association) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing future leaders through leadership education, community service, communication training, and civic engagement. We empower young people to grow with integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
KAYA is committed to inspiring and equipping the next generation of Korean American leaders. Through education, service, and leadership development, we help young people build the character, skills, and confidence to serve their communities and create lasting change.
Our Approach
Introducing KAYA Program
The program is divided into fall and spring semesters and takes place every Saturday afternoon.
Korean experts from various fields—including Santa Clara County prosecutors, school board members, psychological counselors, venture capital representatives, and influencers—participate directly as mentors to provide in-depth education that encompasses both theory and practice. In particular, students gain practical experience in proactive leadership through project-based classes that involve contemplating and solving real-world community issues.
Participant selection comprehensively reflects various evaluation factors, such as personal statements, letters of recommendation, and individual interviews, in addition to academic grades.
Furthermore, to enhance fairness and diversity, extra points are awarded to students from socially vulnerable backgrounds during the scholarship selection process. Upon completion of the program, students who have actively engaged in KAYA activities according to established criteria are officially recognized for their achievements at the end of the year, receiving scholarships and certificates in the names of local politicians, including Santa Clara County Supervisors, the Mayor, City Council members, and State Assembly members.
